I've collected floral prints for the past few years and finally had a chance to use them to make this Summer Snowball Quilt. I am a floral fanatic.
I'm sure I saw something along the way and had this quilt filed away in my brain.
I mixed the color threads to match the sashing and the different colored blocks. I made a free motion circle design in the large blocks and a figure 8 in the sashing. I did not want the border quilted so I left it to stand on its own.
This was a picture from a previous post on my list of unfinished projects.
I pieced the blocks and then went on a hunt for the sashing and the border fabrics. At first I bought a lime green color for the sashing and it was way too much lime. So, I went back and found a different shade of green. I felt lucky when I found the border fabric online and ordered it. It was exactly the shade and pattern that I pictured to go with this quilt.
I spent a little time at a used book store and found some great quilting books.
This was a picture of the a snowball quilt featured in the Easy Quilt Project Books. The above quilt was made by Judy Sohn.
Here is a picture of a flannel quilt from this book. It's on my long list of quilts to make.
